Traditionally, companies have limited themselves to using LinkedIn for recruiting new talent; this is quickly changing.
Known as Social Recruiting, companies are starting to heavily rely on social media platforms to recruit and hire employees, even going as far as using Snapchat! For example, Space 150, a digital marketing agency, is taking advantage of Snapchat’s geofilters to attract enthusiastically tech savvy students to apply for summer internships.
Here’s how their Snapchat hiring process works: interested candidates follow Space 150 on Snapchat to receive a task to complete, serving as the job application. Instead of answering questions like, “why do you want to work here?” students are asked to create a Snapchat story for one of the agency’s current clients.
Melissa Murphy, Space 150’s head of HR, told DigiDay, “Rather than asking students to come to us, we thought it would be much better to target them where they already are.”
Another example is Wow Air’s Snapchat competition. Four winners will spend three months traveling for free while Snapchatting their adventures. According to Travel + Leisure, “To apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, you must ‘create a Snapchat story in English’ that’s under 2 minutes,” and then submit it to the airline.
In today’s technology-driven world, who knows how you’ll apply for your next job? Soon we may be swiping left or right for potential new hires!
